Amazingly Air tags work not only locally but countrywide as well by utilizing other peoples iPhones
(and some androids) to detect lost air tags.
So if it is lost you only need a couple of iPhones to pass by that area to detect it.
Then when you get near it you can activate the internal speaker if required.
Just put your airtag into the case and fix it to where you want to hide it

The case comes unpainted, but for maximum stealth,
